Google takes a picture of each page, examines and caches (stores) that version as a back-up in the Database. The cached version is what Google makes use of to judge if a page is a good match for a searched query. Google index refers to getting website listed in the Google’s database index for SERPs.

In my opinion, Google takes a picture of each page, examines and caches (stores) that version as a back-up in the Database. The cached version is what Google makes use of to judge if a page is a good match for a searched query. Google index refers to getting website listed in the Google's database index for SERPs .

(1) Cache : when search engine bot or crawler come to your page or found any update on site, this process is "Cache".

(2) Indexing : After reading the updated element it stores those new elements in Search Engine's database. This restoration process is "Indexing".
